Laddie is the founding director at kastorworks. He is an internationally chartered civil environmental engineer and published scientific author with 30yrs of science and engineering experience, both abroad and here in Aotearoa New Zealand. He is a citizen of both Canada and New Zealand having spent his early life in Canada, early career internationally, and later part of his career working in the rivers and catchment management sector of Aotearoa. Growing up on a small island on Canada's Atlantic Coast has given him a strong affinity for the natural world and the terrestrial, riverine, and coastal processes at work within it.

Laddie's work in New Zealand has included technical engineering and management roles with unitary and regional authorities, engineering consultancies, and also serving several years as a committee member with Engineering New Zealand's technical interest Rivers Group. In his tenure as an engineer in New Zealand he has had the privilege of sharing his skill with multi-disciplinary teams to design and manage the implementation of numerous river and catchment works throughout Aotearoa. He has been on the ground both during and following some of New Zealand's large and notable flood events and has witnessed engineering works during and post flood conditions.

Laddie started kastorworks out of his passion for the profession of engineering; the people involved in it, its potential for positive impact, and where it is headed in our changing environment.

Outside of his profession, Laddie has an active lifestyle in the outdoors with his whanau, guiding his tamariki along their journey, riding natural energy in the surf, and leaving it all in the game in his passion and involvement in team sport.
